In the 4th minute, Frédson Massa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Artur Antunes, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 7 minutes into the game, Wilton Rosado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Societá Sportiva Lazio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Calheiros the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Brito in the 15th minute of play forced Calheiros's goalkeeper Ulysses Moreno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artur Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frédson Massa in the 20th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Frédson Massa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Artur Antunes. That made the score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. Artur Antunes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frédson Massa's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Agostinho Pontes hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A collision led to Societá Sportiva Lazio getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Wilton Rosado hit a great ball. Felippe Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Moreno having to interfere. Ulysses Moreno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 35 minutes, Frédson Massa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Calheiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frédson Massa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nando Matorin kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Agostinho Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Antunes having to interfere. Frédson Massa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the match, Societá Sportiva Lazio's goal looked a bit too open when Frédson Massa came free, but Artur Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cícero Simões could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Artur Antunes made a huge save. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Brito to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Societá Sportiva Lazio's zone, Frédson Massa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Antunes came out of the goal and Frédson Massa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 54th minute Frédson Massa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Cícero Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Calheiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Cícero Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artur Antunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 63 minutes into the game, Cícero Simões cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Artur Antunes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Frank Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Frédson Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute of the match Gugu Severo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Artur Antunes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Wilton Rosado kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Frédson Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Antunes having to interfere. Cícero Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Calheiros's Agostinho Pontes got a free kick in the 87th minute. Felippe Senna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulysses Moreno read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
