Jaibaras's Nilmar Mandrak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arí Oliveira in the 15th minute of play. Zorgetz's Valdir Miranda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Zorgetz from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute, Arí Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Zorgetz's Valdir Miranda got control of the ball when Kléberson Zonta tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Zorgetz's Ademir Mangueira in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ademir Mangueira in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nilmar Mandrak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugênio Seco in the 39th minute of play forced Zorgetz's goalkeeper Valdir Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Zorgetz were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 67th minute, Adrianinho Ferraz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nilmar Mandrak was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Ademir Mangueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ademir Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Angelo Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zorgetz's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Macedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilmar Mandrak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
