In the 12th minute Waldemar Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Ivar Hellbom's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juvenal Damião was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 16th match minute, Ribeirao SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexsandro Paulista to maneuver through the defense. 17 minutes into the match, Ribeirao SS's goal looked a bit too open when Gildo Pombal came free, but Juvenal Damião reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee ignored I p a u s s u e n s s e's protests and gave Régis Koehler a yellow card for diving instead. Régis Koehler kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 31st minute of the match Pedrinho Valladares shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leonel Teixeira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Adrianinho Vergílio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Leonel Teixeira made a huge save. Tarcisio Barbosa struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Leonel Teixeira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ribeirao SS. In the 37th minute Waldemar Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tarcisio Barbosa's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Leonel Teixeira firmly grabbed it by the left post. Edmílson Capixaba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 45 minutes into the match, I p a u s s u e n s s e's goal looked a bit too open when Waldemar Melo came free, but Leonel Teixeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ivar Hellbom recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivar Hellbom made a kick off. I p a u s s u e n s s e's Leonel Teixeira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Waldemar Melo in the 56th minute of play. When Ivar Hellbom came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the I p a u s s u e n s s e fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivar Hellbom couldn't finish the play. The supporters of I p a u s s u e n s s e booed when Ribeirao SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juvenal Damião took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gildo Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Teixeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrianinho Vergílio in the 69th minute of play. After a rather tough play, I p a u s s u e n s s e's Gláuber Tepedino got a free kick in the 70th minute. Leonel Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrianinho Vergílio in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Sílvio Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adrianinho Vergílio in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonel Teixeira saved I p a u s s u e n s s e from getting behind. In the 80th minute Adrianinho Vergílio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonel Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to I p a u s s u e n s s e getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Gláuber Tepedino hit a great ball.
