The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Edu Amaral made a precise shot to the right of Wágner Porto. Itapival AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 13th minute, Chico Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benê Ramalho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Raúl de Queirós. Tristeza SC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Wágner Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Augusto Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute Carlos Augusto Tasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wágner Porto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Germano Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tristeza SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itapival AD the free kick. Germano Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Edu Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wágner Porto having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edu Amaral got free with Wágner Porto in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Carlos Augusto Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Tristeza SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Augusto Tasso couldn't finish the play. After having played for 40 minutes, Edu Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tristeza SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edu Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Tristeza SC's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Berger came free, but Raúl de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Raúl de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelo Berger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edu Amarals short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Wágner Porto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

The wind increased when Carlos Augusto Tasso made the kick off in the second half. Wágner Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu Amaral in the 52nd minute of the match. 52 minutes into the game, Guto Nunes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itapival AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tristeza SC the free kick. The supporters of Tristeza SC booed when Itapival AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto Nunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 53 minutes, Edu Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tristeza SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edu Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wágner Porto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Augusto Tasso in the 55th minute of play. Edu Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wágner Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu Amaral in the 70th minute of the match. Itapival AD's Wágner Porto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Augusto Tasso in the 71st minute of play. In the 75th minute, Germano Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee gave Itapival AD a penalty, 89 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Benê Ramalho, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Tristeza SC's Raúl de Queirós. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Berger in the 98th minute of play forced Tristeza SC's goalkeeper Raúl de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
