Leopoldo Antunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itubera SC. Quimami SC's Leopoldo Antunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eurico Bueno in the 11th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Itubera SC's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fernando Quaresma came free, but Rafael Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Quimami SC's Diamantino Carneiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rafael Gaúcho. That made the score 1-0 after 15 minutes of play. In the 18th minute, Diamantino Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leopoldo Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Bueno in the 20th minute of play. Eurico Bueno might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leopoldo Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eurico Bueno ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vítor de Sena in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leopoldo Antunes saved Quimami SC from getting behind. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eurico Bueno in the 37th managed to get into a good position. In the 37th match minute, Quimami SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arlindo do Valle to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Itubera SC's zone, Diamantino Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Gaúcho came out of the goal and Diamantino Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th match minute, Itubera SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandinho Loyola to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, Quimami SC's Enio Galvão broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After 52 played minutes, Itubera SC's Gualter Madureira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leopoldo Antunes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Itubera SC reached it. Itubera SC's Eurico Bueno got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leopoldo Antunes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eurico Bueno's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. When Vítor de Sena came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Itubera SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor de Sena couldn't finish the play. Leopoldo Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eurico Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Quimami SC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Adelino do Nascimento hit a great ball. Leopoldo Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eurico Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 73 minutes, Luan Valle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itubera SC and the Quimami SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd minute, Luan Valle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Quimami SC's goalkeeper Leopoldo Antunes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 80 minutes, Vítor de Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itubera SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor de Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 81 minutes into the match, Quimami SC's goal looked a bit too open when Eurico Bueno came free, but Leopoldo Antunes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Vítor de Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 96th minute of the match Zé Carlos Novaes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Zé Carlos Novaes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Itubera SC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Quimami SC had won, even though Itubera SC had held more of the ball.
