Futebol Club Neto's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maracani the free kick. Ronaldinho Cerezo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseu Terra having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Basílio Macedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maracani's Eliseu Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldinho Cerezo in the 27th minute of play. When Nelson Luz came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Futebol Club Neto fans jumped to their feet. The supporters of Futebol Club Neto booed when Maracani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Salgado didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Futebol Club Neto's Fausto Canzano got control of the ball when Miguel Mangueira tried to sneak it across the goal line.
