Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Narciso Magalhães in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Betão Toscano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Humildes's Victor Amaral suffered a concussion in the 15th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. José Vítor Pereira charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Vítor Pereira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 16 played minutes Aruaja got a freekick which was hit by José Vítor Pereira. Guga Pena was extremely unlucky when he, in the 23rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Aruaja's Narciso Goiano got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Guga Pena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tarcisio Ribeiro was relentless in the 29th minute of the game.
