With a little luck, Catete United FC's Antônio Peres got control of the ball when Doni Salgado tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 12 minutes, Dé Botelho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Laranjal FC and the Catete United FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15th minute, Emílio Berger made a precise shot to the right of Emerson Matorin. Laranjal FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Laranjal FC's Emerson Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilson Velloso in the 18th minute of play. Emerson Matorin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basílio Guedes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emerson Matorin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilson Velloso in the 26th minute of the match. Emerson Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson Velloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. In the 34th minute Wilson Velloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 36 minutes Laranjal FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was André Trindade who took care of the corner kick. In the 37th minute of the match Catete United FC got a corner. Laranjal FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. André Trindade ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Emílio Berger heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Laranjal FC's Emerson Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilson Velloso in the 39th minute of play. Emerson Matorin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Basílio Guedes went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. 44 minutes into the match, Catete United FC's goal looked a bit too open when João Paulo Berger came free, but Antônio Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute, Emílio Berger left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Catete United FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-6 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wilson Velloso was the one to do the kick off. Laranjal FC's Emerson Matorin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Laranjal FC from getting a goal against them. Basílio Guedes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Emerson Matorin firmly grabbed it by the left post. Emerson Matorin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emílio Berger in the 56th minute of the match. Catete United FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Emerson Matorin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilson Velloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilson Velloso in the 71st minute of play forced Laranjal FC's goalkeeper Emerson Matorin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Catete United FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Zeca Souza hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Catete United FC's zone, João Paulo Berger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antônio Peres came out of the goal and João Paulo Berger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Basílio Guedes took a quick shot and it went in 1-9 without a chance for Emerson Matorin to make any attempt to save it. In the 86th minute Wilson Velloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Catete United FC's Antônio Peres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doni Salgado in the 89th minute of play. Emerson Matorin was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from André Trindade. After a rather tough play, Laranjal FC's Dé Botelho got a free kick in the 91st minute. Catete United FC played a much better game than Laranjal FC and deserved their victory. The Laranjal FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
