In the 3rd minute, José Carlos Valadares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. E.C BAHIA's Rubens de Castro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save E.C BAHIA from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute, Hortêncio Mendonça left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The E.C BAHIA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Rubens de Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute Dadá Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens de Castro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hortêncio Mendonça received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Pedrinho Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rubens de Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Fernando Arantes, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Luís Fernando Arantes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Rubens de Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the game, E.C BAHIA's Hortêncio Mendonça nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedrinho Pinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 37 minutes into the match, Hortêncio Mendonça notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Placa's Pedrinho Pinho. Pedrinho Pinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hortêncio Mendonça in the 41st minute of play forced Placa's goalkeeper Pedrinho Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Eliseu Abreu fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C BAHIA's protests and gave Eliseu Abreu a yellow card for diving instead. José Carlos Valadares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rubens de Castro having to interfere. Eliseu Abreu was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to E.C BAHIA getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Eliseu Abreu hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dadá Paraense was the one to do the kick off. Pedrinho Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horácio Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Severino Mendes during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of E.C BAHIA booed when Placa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severino Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the E.C BAHIA defense, Dadá Paraense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rubens de Castro. The E.C BAHIA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rubens de Castro should have stopped the shot. Pedrinho Pinho came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by E.C BAHIA's Horácio Domingues. But to his dismay, Horácio Domingues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. 65 minutes into the match, E.C BAHIA's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fernando Arantes came free, but Rubens de Castro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dadá Paraense took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rubens de Castro. Rubens de Castro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. In the 73rd minute, Joélson Teles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rubens de Castro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Mendes in the 75th minute of play. Rubens de Castro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fernando Arantes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 79 minutes into the game, Horácio Domingues was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. E.C BAHIA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Placa the free kick. In the 79th minute, Horácio Domingues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dadá Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. E.C BAHIA played a much better game than Placa and deserved their victory. The Placa players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
