Genílson Mendonça was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Jardel de Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Confiança FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jardel de Queirós couldn't finish the play. Tomaž Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Mendonça having to interfere. The supporters of Confiança FC booed when SC Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aloísio Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Confiança FC's Jardel de Queirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Genílson Mendonça narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Dito Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Washington Amaral was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Corinthians's goalkeeper Genílson Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Confiança FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Dito Santos scored to the left of an out of position Washington Amaral, making the score, 3-1. The supporters of SC Corinthians booed when Confiança FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aloísio Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jorge Marques could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Washington Amaral made a huge save. Dito Santoss short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Washington Amaral to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

In the 52nd minute, Confiança FC's Jardel de Queirós ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Genílson Mendonça. Genílson Mendonça yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. Gustavo Souza hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. A collision led to SC Corinthians getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Romeu Miranda hit a great ball. Washington Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aloísio Vale in the 68th minute of play. After 71 minutes of play, SC Corinthians's Aloísio Vale made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Washington Amaral was left in no man's land by his defense there! Confiança FC's Washington Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dito Santos in the 77th minute of play. Washington Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dito Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mané Novaes took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Washington Amaral. Washington Amaral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-2. In the 88th minute, Jorge Marques ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Washington Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-2. 93 minutes into the match, Confiança FC's goal looked a bit too open when Juarês Martins came free, but Washington Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomaž Silva during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee gave Confiança FC a penalty, 98 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Tomaž Silva, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SC Corinthians's Genílson Mendonça. 7-3. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. SC Corinthians fully deserved thier win.
