Mané Barreto hit a great ball. Durval Britto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Túlio Arantes in the 17th minute of play. Augusto Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vinícius Mesquita in the 23rd minute of play forced Santos's goalkeeper Durval Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th match minute, Liverpool FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hermínio de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Durval Britto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Durval Britto made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Túlio Arantes sent off a good shot on target. Túlio Arantes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Durval Britto made a huge save. Santos's Durval Britto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Santos from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute, Raí Furtado reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Durval Britto. The goal made the score 0-7.
