In the 10th minute of the match Sydney Queirós sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bret Harper skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomás Leme in the 11th minute of play forced Guarulhas's goalkeeper Bret Harper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guarulhas's Bret Harper played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathias Cunha in the 12th minute of play. Bret Harper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás Leme in the 13th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Guarulhas's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Leme came free, but Bret Harper reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Tomás Leme notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Guarulhas's Bret Harper. Bret Harper was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cássio Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Tomás Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Mathias Cunha notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Guarulhas's Bret Harper. Bret Harper was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mathias Cunha struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Bret Harper didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A. A. INTERNACIONAL. In the 35th minute, Mathias Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th match minute, Guarulhas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hudson Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Marcel Baiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Ramón Favoretto made a huge save. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Cássio Severo made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Baiano in the 53rd minute of play forced A. A. INTERNACIONAL's goalkeeper Ramón Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiaguinho Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bret Harper came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by A. A. INTERNACIONAL's Tomás Leme. But to his dismay, Tomás Leme quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Bret Harper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathias Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, A. A. INTERNACIONAL's Mathias Cunha got a free kick in the 65th minute. Guarulhas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Cássio Severo scored to the left of an out of position Bret Harper, making the score, 0-4. A. A. INTERNACIONAL's Cássio Severo got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bret Harper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathias Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Guarulhas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Cássio Severo scored to the left of an out of position Bret Harper, making the score, 0-5. Tomás Leme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Bret Harper made a huge save. Bret Harper showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Severo, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Tomás Leme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bret Harper having to interfere. Guarulhas's Bret Harper played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Severo in the 89th minute of play. Hudson Queirós hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Sugar Villavicencio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bret Harper read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Ramón Favoretto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Mendonça in the 94th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded A. A. INTERNACIONAL left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Guarulhas.
