In the 31st minute Genílson Netto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandinho Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Imbiara EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 35th minute, when Pål Sigman scored to the left of an out of position Edvaldo Guedes, making the score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Wilson Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edvaldo Guedes having to interfere.
