After a rather tough play, Leônico Monte Serrat's Juninho Carvalho got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Carlos Mandrak recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 8th minute Pål Sigman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henk Zwaanswijk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henk Zwaanswijk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pål Sigman in the 9th minute of play. Montez Font's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fernandinho Esteves firmly grabbed it by the left post. Leônico Monte Serrat's Willian Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fernandinho Esteves made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Montez Font sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of SAPIRANGA E C booed when Leônico Monte Serrat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Christiano Freitas kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Fernandinho Esteves was a little too slow when Willian Lopes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Miranda in the 44th minute of play forced SAPIRANGA E C's goalkeeper Fernandinho Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Pål Sigman made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of SAPIRANGA E C booed when Leônico Monte Serrat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiaguinho Mineiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. SAPIRANGA E C's Pål Sigman got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 64 played minutes Leônico Monte Serrat got a freekick which was hit by Christiano Freitas. Fernandinho Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Willian Lopes, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Leônico Monte Serrat's Henk Zwaanswijk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pål Sigman in the 69th minute of play. After 77 played minutes SAPIRANGA E C got a freekick which was hit by Fred Lopez. In the 77th minute of the match Zézinho Neves shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernandinho Esteves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Willian Lopes kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Fred Miranda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandinho Esteves having to interfere. After 84 played minutes SAPIRANGA E C got a freekick which was hit by Fred Lopez. Montez Font struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Fernandinho Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leônico Monte Serrat. 94 minutes into the match, SAPIRANGA E C's goal looked a bit too open when Willian Lopes came free, but Fernandinho Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilson Moreno hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
