Laje de Pedra's Luisinho Martins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Laje de Pedra from getting a goal against them. After 10 played minutes Laje de Pedra got a freekick which was hit by Yuri Gaúcho. Luisinho Martins made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Fernando Lara in the 17th minute. Luisinho Martins was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Erik Linhares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Erik Linhares really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Baltazar Tavares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Luisinho Martins. Laje de Pedra's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 30th minute, Coringão's Erik Linhares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luisinho Martins. Luisinho Martins yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Luisinho Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Dionísio, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the match, Luiz Fernando Lara notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Laje de Pedra's Luisinho Martins. Luisinho Martins was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 44th minute Romário Baggio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida de Mendonça saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Laje de Pedra getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. José Augusto Camargo hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Laje de Pedra's Luisinho Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erik Linhares in the 53rd minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, José Augusto Camargo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Laje de Pedra's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Coringão the free kick. After 54 played minutes Laje de Pedra got a freekick which was hit by José Augusto Camargo. Luisinho Martins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagoberto Dionísio in the 55th minute of the match. Luisinho Martins came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Coringão's Dagoberto Dionísio. But to his dismay, Dagoberto Dionísio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. A collision led to Coringão getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Erik Linhares hit a great ball. With his leg Dida de Mendonça managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Laje de Pedra's Romário Baggio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luisinho Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Laje de Pedra were furious when Themis Kalokerinos was red carded, 75 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Themis Kalokerinos hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Coringão's Erik Linhares tried to score from far away in the 76th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Erik Linhares scored 5-0 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luisinho Martins, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luisinho Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Coringão fans cheered their team off the field, for while Laje de Pedra had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
