The Silves AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 15 minutes, José Maria Trevisan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Silves AD and the Verde players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Silves AD's José Maria Trevisan got a free kick in the 15th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Verde's Nilton Almeida tried to score from far away in the 16th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Zé Carlos Fernandez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Verde fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. A collision led to Verde getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Vágner de Lima hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Silves AD's Igor Saraiva tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 26 minutes of play, Verde's Emílio Queiroz made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sílvio de Sousa was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frédson Favoretto during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 33 minutes into the match, Zé Carlos Fernandez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sílvio de Sousa. Silves AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Carlos Fernandez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Verde's Emílio Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emílio Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio de Sousa having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emílio Queiroz in the 45th minute of play forced Silves AD's goalkeeper Sílvio de Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Maria Trevisan hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Genílson Alvarenga was the one to do the kick off. Sílvio de Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Zé Carlos Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Maria Trevisan kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Silves AD's Sílvio de Sousa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Silves AD from getting a goal against them. With his leg Sílvio de Sousa managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Verde's Zé Carlos Fernandez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Emílio Queiroz took a quick shot and it went in 1-7 without a chance for Sílvio de Sousa to make any attempt to save it. When Vágner de Lima fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verde's protests and gave Vágner de Lima a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th minute, Vágner de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Silves AD booed when Verde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cacá de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Verde played a much better game than Silves AD and deserved their victory. The Silves AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
