The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fidel Avellaneda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fernando Lucero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Guaberto Etxepare tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17 played minutes Club Atletico Velloso got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Sein. Jacinto Intxixu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernan Froylan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blas Beturian in the 29th minute of play forced Merkiados's goalkeeper Guaberto Etxepare to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Blas Beturian had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Guaberto Etxepare. Merkiados's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Blas Beturian was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 36th minute Blas Beturian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guaberto Etxepare saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Lucero in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guaberto Etxepare saved Merkiados from getting behind. Jacinto Intxixu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hernan Froylan's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. Jacinto Intxixu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernan Froylan in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Merkiados's Guaberto Etxepare proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Merkiados from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Club Atletico Velloso booed when Merkiados was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Quilino didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute, Pablo Enekoitz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Guaberto Etxepare. The goal made the score 0-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Hernan Froylan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merkiados's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernan Froylan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacinto Intxixu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Guaberto Etxepare took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Sein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 84 minutes into the game, Fernando Lucero recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Guaberto Etxepare. Fernando Lucero showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Hernan Froylan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fidel Avellaneda struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Jacinto Intxixu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merkiados. 94 minutes into the match, Merkiados's goalkeeper Guaberto Etxepare had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Lucero. In the 96th minute, Club Atletico Velloso's Fernando Lucero ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Guaberto Etxepare. Guaberto Etxepare yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. The Club Atletico Velloso players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
