The La Armada Buscapina fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when La Armada Buscapina's Ildefonso Suero looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in C A River Plate's zone, Ildefonso Suero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albano Sal came out of the goal and Ildefonso Suero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ildefonso Suero who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Albano Sal when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ramiro Gaitan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horacio Rodriguez in the 45th minute of play. In the 46th minute Horacio Rodriguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Gaitan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ildefonso Suero to make the kick off. If Emiliano Tadzio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Celestino Laffitte during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Horacio Rodriguez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Gaitan having to interfere. If Rosendo Ebardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute, Rosendo Ebardo made a precise shot to the right of Ramiro Gaitan. La Armada Buscapina's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Horacio Rodriguez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Gaitan having to interfere.
