With a little luck, San Marino's Clemente Dolfo got control of the ball when Valentin Viola tried to sneak it across the goal line. Angel Venceslao showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Esteban Peli, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Valentin Viola did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Clemente Dolfo 11 minutes into the match. The supporters of San Marino booed when Balsa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Giraldo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angel Venceslao showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aldo Cambranes, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Clemente Dolfo made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Valentin Viola sent off a good shot on target. 32 minutes into the match, San Marino's goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Viola came free, but Clemente Dolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Erik Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balsa's supporters rose to their feet, but Erik Rosado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clemente Dolfo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clemente Dolfo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victorio Guilabertus in the 36th minute of the match. Angel Venceslao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Esteban Peli in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th match minute, Balsa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victorio Guilabertus to maneuver through the defense. Valentin Viola in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Clemente Dolfo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aldo Cambranes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Marcial Dalmu fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Marino's protests and gave Marcial Dalmu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to San Marino getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Marcial Dalmu hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Valentin Viola managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balsa's supporters rose to their feet, but Valentin Viola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clemente Dolfo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 55th minute Petre Tirulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clemente Dolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Angel Venceslao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Esteban Peli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valentin Viola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Dolfo having to interfere. Clemente Dolfo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valentin Viola in the 63rd minute of play. After 67 played minutes Balsa got a freekick which was hit by Segundo Gamus. 68 minutes into the match, Marcial Dalmu sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Angel Venceslao threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Marcial Dalmu this time. After a rather tough play, Balsa's Victorio Guilabertus got a free kick in the 69th minute. Aldo Cambranes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Angel Venceslao came out and tried to block the shot, but Aldo Cambranes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 70th minute. In the 73rd minute, Marcial Dalmu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erik Rosado might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Clemente Dolfo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erik Rosado ran back to his position shaking his head. After 78 played minutes San Marino got a freekick which was hit by Hipolito Cordarrol. Valentin Viola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Clemente Dolfo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Valentin Viola in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clemente Dolfo saved San Marino from getting behind. Clemente Dolfo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valentin Viola's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. Valentin Viola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Balsa manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing San Marino to win.
