Silverio Ascencio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Swansea City FC. Feliciano Argi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Silverio Ascencio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute Aristides Inautzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sixto Beltza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Feliciano Argi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silverio Ascencio having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Aristides Inautzi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sixto Beltza was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Sixto Beltza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aristides Inautzi in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aristides Inautzi was the one to do the kick off. In the 62nd minute of the match Fabian Illart sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sixto Beltza skillfully saved the ball. After 70 played minutes, Swansea City FC's Marco Aurre shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Silverio Ascencio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Swansea City FC reached it. After 71 minutes, Dario Iztal mouthed his way into the referee's book. Roberto Florin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sixto Beltza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. When the match was over Unión could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Swansea City FC throughout the match.
