Clemente Lorenz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Everardo Rivero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Población FC's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Lorenz came free, but Everardo Rivero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Población FC's Dario Gudesteo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hilario Gurutz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Everardo Rivero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Patricio Gomesano went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Patricio Gomesano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Everardo Rivero was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. 39 minutes into the game, Cornelio Goizeder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Población FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quijana AFC the free kick. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Clemente Lorenz to make the kick off. The supporters of Población FC booed when Quijana AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albino Toribio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Gonzalo Buinton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Población FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonzalo Buinton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hilario Gurutz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Quijana AFC's Hilario Gurutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Gudesteo in the 57th minute of play. Celedonio Beltxe helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Población FC's Celedonio Beltxe got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Gonzalo Buinton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Población FC's Cornelio Goizeder got his second yellow card of the match in the 83rd minute. The referee ordered Cornelio Goizeder off the ground.
