The tension between the Verdolá and the Anzoátegui players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 10 played minutes Verdolá got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Tello. 12 minutes into the match, Freddy Tello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Santiago Calisto. Anzoátegui's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Freddy Tello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. When Freddy Tello came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Verdolá fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freddy Tello couldn't finish the play. With his leg Santiago Calisto managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Verdolá's Freddy Tello fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 25 minutes into the game, Freddy Tello lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Santiago Calisto. 28 minutes into the game, Dante Vargas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Martin Malec was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Martin Malec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Matei in the 33rd minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Octavio Manny was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute, Dante Vargas made a precise shot to the right of Martin Malec. Verdolá's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Santiago Calisto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Freddy Tello in the 60th minute of play. Rafael Txeru hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. If Luis Urtzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd match minute, Anzoátegui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Eufrasio to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the game, Octavio Manny recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Martin Malec. Octavio Manny showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-4. After a defensive mix-up in Anzoátegui's zone, Freddy Tello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Santiago Calisto came out of the goal and Freddy Tello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 75th minute, Freddy Tello ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Santiago Calisto was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Martin Malec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavio Manny in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute of the match Dario Iyan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martin Malec skillfully saved the ball. Raul Ritchie's late challenge caught a Anzoátegui's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raul Ritchie helped the player get up and apologised. In the 89th match minute, Verdolá was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raul Ritchie to maneuver through the defense. If Luis Urtzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freddy Tello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santiago Calisto having to interfere. The Anzoátegui supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Anzoátegui would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
