The referee ignored Antaje's protests and gave Marcos Betadur a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of los sabaleros booed when Antaje was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcos Betadur didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, los sabaleros's Rolando Pelayo tried to score from far away in the 7th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eustacio Luzaide got free with Reynaldo Abel in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 21 minutes into the match, los sabaleros's goal looked a bit too open when Constantino Orti came free, but Reynaldo Abel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carolo Delfino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anier Mino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 54th minute Constantino Orti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Reynaldo Abel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a left leg Reynaldo Abel saved los sabaleros from getting behind. Anier Mino kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Reynaldo Abel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Ospin in the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Ospin in the 74th minute of play forced los sabaleros's goalkeeper Reynaldo Abel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Marco Ospin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reynaldo Abel was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. After 77 played minutes Antaje got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Betadur. Reynaldo Abel came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Antaje's Marco Ospin. But to his dismay, Marco Ospin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Ospin in the 88th minute of play forced los sabaleros's goalkeeper Reynaldo Abel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 94 played minutes los sabaleros got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Panpili.
