After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Saverio Caradaro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportivo Cristal's supporters rose to their feet, but Saverio Caradaro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruperto Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Yala AFC's Silverio Serapio pulled a muscle in his leg after 17 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zeledon Abechuco during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Yala AFC booed when Sportivo Cristal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeledon Abechuco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emanuel Dantel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingos Sotero in the 20th minute of the match. In the 25th minute Saverio Caradaro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruperto Velasco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Yala AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Ruperto Velasco went to the wrong direction when Jimeno Lleir was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Saverio Caradaro struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Ruperto Velasco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sportivo Cristal. Amado Medina hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Ruperto Velasco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saverio Caradaro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jose Piearres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Velasco having to interfere. Jose Piearres succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 47th playminute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Saverio Caradaro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Remigio Bikendi kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Emanuel Dantel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Domingos Sotero in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute, Saverio Caradaro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 70 minutes into the game, Cosme Mon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sportivo Cristal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yala AFC the free kick. In the 71st match minute, Sportivo Cristal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cosme Mon to maneuver through the defense. Domingos Sotero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, Yala AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Caradaro came free, but Ruperto Velasco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jose Piearres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Velasco having to interfere. Ruperto Velasco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saverio Caradaro in the 86th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Sportivo Cristal's goalkeeper Emanuel Dantel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Domingos Sotero. Saverio Caradaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Yala AFC defense, Jose Piearres kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ruperto Velasco. The Yala AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ruperto Velasco should have stopped the shot. Sportivo Cristal's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
