Rigoberto Ritchie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albino Dominic in the 41st minute of the match. When Urbano Intxixu fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gowlan FC's protests and gave Urbano Intxixu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 43rd minute there was a penalty for Candelaria FC. Marcial Eliazar stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rigoberto Ritchie. 0-1. After the first half Candelaria FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
