Emanuel Loi started the match with the kick off. Dalmacio Sansone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Aguirre having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Martin Ubelteso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Uhin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mateo Uhin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Goren in the 40th minute of play. The supporters of Unión booed when Club Atletico River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Honorio Maurin didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Unión getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Julian Santos hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roberto Goren to make the kick off. If Martin Ubelteso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Club Atletico River Plate's Vicente Aguirre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Loi in the 59th minute of play. Mateo Uhin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Goren in the 62nd minute of play. Mateo Uhin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Martin Ubelteso in the 65th minute. A collision led to Club Atletico River Plate getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Filomeno Diagur hit a great ball. Benito Udalaitz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vicente Aguirre. Club Atletico River Plate's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 71 minutes into the game, Roberto Goren recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mateo Uhin. Roberto Goren showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-1. With a little luck, Unión's Mateo Uhin got control of the ball when Martin Ubelteso tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Dalmacio Sansone came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Unión fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dalmacio Sansone couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute, Dalmacio Sansone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Martin Ubelteso could shoot a difficult shot in the 94th minute, which Mateo Uhin however easily saved by the left post. The Club Atletico River Plate players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
