The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Albino Diagur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Narciso Ledesma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mauro Ospin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narciso Ledesma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Los hijos de la Viuda booed when Benard was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Cristofol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guaberto Leobardo made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Celedonio Frutos sent off a good shot on target. When Augusto Hermelando came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Benard fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Hermelando couldn't finish the play. Narciso Ledesma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mauro Ospin having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Albino Diagur in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mauro Ospin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Los hijos de la Viuda's Albino Diagur, in the 39th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Los hijos de la Viuda. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Hermelando in the 43rd minute of play forced Los hijos de la Viuda's goalkeeper Guaberto Leobardo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jairo Munio charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jairo Munio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jairo Munio hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Celedonio Frutos got free with Guaberto Leobardo in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mauro Ospin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albino Diagur in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Albino Diagur to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Benard's Jeronimo Aurken got a free kick in the 51st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Albino Diagur managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mauro Ospin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Augusto Hermelando had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauro Ospin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The Los hijos de la Viuda supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Los hijos de la Viuda would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
