Marciano Montae charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Camilo Oton's late challenge caught a Club Everton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 38 minutes, Martin Nuñez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River F.C and the Club Everton players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximo Ruy got free with Rolando Cayo in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anibal Rivero made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Club Everton's Angelo Adrio got a free kick in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Club Everton's zone, Vladimiro Mateus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Brais came out of the goal and Vladimiro Mateus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 57th minute, Angelo Adrio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benicio Joey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Rolando Cayo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Club Everton booed when River F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Nuñez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Christian Quinteros struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Virgilio Brais didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River F.C. Anibal Rivero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Virgilio Brais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Virgilio Brais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anibal Rivero in the 73rd minute of play. Christian Quinteros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Virgilio Brais made a huge save. 77 minutes into the match, Hugo Padro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of River F.C's Rolando Cayo. Rolando Cayo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 81st minute Severino Eufemio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Cayo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Everton's goalkeeper Virgilio Brais, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hugo Padro's late challenge caught a River F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. A hard shot by Jesus Lamberto from long distance, 89 minutes into the match, got Virgilio Brais's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Maximo Ruy fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Everton's protests and gave Maximo Ruy a yellow card for diving instead. Rolando Cayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugo Padro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benicio Joey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Club Everton's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
