Arnulfo Panfilo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niceto Marino having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Teodoro Lobo in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niceto Marino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Club Atletico River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Arnulfo Panfilo came free, but Niceto Marino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arnulfo Panfilo to strike the kick off in the second half. Club Atletico River Plate's Niceto Marino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Club Atletico River Plate from getting a goal against them. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Atletico River Plate.
