The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Silvio Guillen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ostendi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave San Martin the free kick. When Victorino Laurgain fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Silvio Guillen had several of the San Martin's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 16 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Marcos Jerold as he didn't even see the shot coming. A collision led to San Martin getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Justo Elivareo hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Silvio Guillen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ostendi's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvio Guillen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Jerold breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ostendi's Victorino Laurgain got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Godfredo Rio succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. 41 minutes into the match, San Martin's goalkeeper Marcos Jerold had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Silvio Guillen. After 42 minutes, Oscar Adrio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ostendi and the San Martin players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 45th play minutes Godfredo Rio shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Paulo Fernanco and just under the crossbar into goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Silvio Guillen to strike the kick off in the second half. Ostendi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvio Guillen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 87 minutes into the match, San Martin's goal looked a bit too open when Silvio Guillen came free, but Marcos Jerold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silvio Guillen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Jerold having to interfere. San Martin were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Ostendi's much stronger midfield.
