Goicó AFC's Generoso Vergaray proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Goicó AFC from getting a goal against them. Teo Birila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Ignatius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Feliciano Laffitte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute Remigio Atauri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teo Birila saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 minutes, Abelardo Ignatius mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Goicó AFC and the Salazar FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nicolas Guillelmus's late challenge caught a Salazar FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicolas Guillelmus helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Salazar FC booed when Goicó AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Guillelmus didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Dionisio Gombal came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Salazar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dionisio Gombal couldn't finish the play. After 33 minutes, Genaro Eudoxio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Salazar FC and the Goicó AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eulalio Ilixo to make the kick off.
