Modesto Rey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cangallo FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Andres Giro 22 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Rivas in the 26th minute of play forced Patricios's goalkeeper Nicolas Fidele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romeo Rivas might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicolas Fidele. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Romeo Rivas ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 41st minute, Hernan Fonso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andres Giro in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Modesto Rey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Romeo Rivas's late challenge caught a Patricios's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Romeo Rivas helped the player get up and apologised. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
