Desiderio Berbiz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baltasar Gil was the one to do the kick off. After 50 played minutes Mar del Plata Club got a freekick which was hit by Julian Luzaide. Placido Jacindo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Desiderio Berbiz having to interfere. Teodoro Paublo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damaso Pedroso in the 58th minute of play. Baltasar Gil who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Desiderio Berbiz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Damaso Pedroso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Teodoro Paublo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lucas Ibañez's late challenge caught a Mar del Plata Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lucas Ibañez helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Club Atlético River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Ibañez. Desiderio Berbiz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Reynaldo Astudillo. Mariano Ubendu got his second yellow card in the match during the 75th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Desiderio Berbiz came out of the goal and Baltasar Gil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Mar del Plata Club could leave the field as winners, despite Club Atlético River Plate having more of the ball for most of the match.
