Baltasar Gil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorino Ferdinand having to interfere. After 26 minutes, Rolando Pitin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Instituto Juniors and the Club Atlético River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Instituto Juniors's Rolando Pitin got a free kick in the 26th minute. Baltasar Gil struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Victorino Ferdinand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético River Plate. Baltasar Gil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victorino Ferdinand didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roque Sauveur went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to Club Atlético River Plate getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Roque Sauveur hit a great ball. When Club Atlético River Plate's Baltasar Gil in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Despite being the better team, Club Atlético River Plate failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
