The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Blas Porfirio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Velez Sarsfield's Amado Bernal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jairo Buinton in the 28th minute of play. After recieving a nice pass, Velez Sarsfield's Eloy Vermudo tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Blas Porfirio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ermegildo Santo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Nicanor Louis fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez Sarsfield's protests and gave Nicanor Louis a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Velez Sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Nicanor Louis. If Fernan Fonda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The MAR-RA players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Velez Sarsfield were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ermegildo Santo to strike the kick off in the second half. If Ermegildo Santo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 56 minutes into the match, Fernan Fonda notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of MAR-RA's Blas Porfirio. Blas Porfirio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
