Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Carolo Cayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benigno Polo in the 5th minute of play. Benigno Polo took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carolo Cayo. Carolo Cayo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Jorge Ermano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. Douglas Haig's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximiliano Miliano got free with Herminio Admon in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Douglas Haig defense, Aquilino Neto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carolo Cayo. The Douglas Haig fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carolo Cayo should have stopped the shot. Jorge Ermano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Herminio Admon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Clemente Corderun got a free kick in the 28th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benigno Polo in the 32nd minute of play forced Douglas Haig's goalkeeper Carolo Cayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute, Independiente's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jorge Ermano fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Benigno Polo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carolo Cayo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Douglas Haig's Eugenio Manuelo got a free kick in the 37th minute. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Benigno Polo sped through Douglas Haig's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Carolo Cayo. 42 minutes into the game, Gustavo Timo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Douglas Haig the free kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

In the 53rd match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benigno Polo to maneuver through the defense. Maximiliano Miliano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Herminio Admon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Douglas Haig booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Cordaryal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benigno Polo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Carolo Cayo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Aquilino Neto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benigno Polo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Carolo Cayo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jorge Ermano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute, Julian Afonso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Miliano came free, but Herminio Admon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Timo hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After 84 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Cordaryal. Maximiliano Miliano struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Herminio Admon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Douglas Haig. If Aquilino Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Aquilino Neto came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aquilino Neto couldn't finish the play. If Aquilino Neto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Humberto Cordaryal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Independiente left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Douglas Haig.
