The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erasmo Rojelio during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Atletico Juventud FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Los pochoclitos:s goal. The goalkeeper, Hermengildo Beila, was totally fooled by Los pochoclitos's Matias Natanael, who 14 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 19th match minute, Atletico Juventud FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roque Loreto to maneuver through the defense. If Ciro Goito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Honorio Fortun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Virgilio Senio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Erubiel Gai hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 28 minutes into the match, Los pochoclitos's goal looked a bit too open when Honorio Fortun came free, but Virgilio Senio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atletico Juventud FC's Reynaldo Abarca was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Virgilio Senio in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Ciro Goito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Tiburcio Mateo fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atletico Juventud FC's protests and gave Tiburcio Mateo a yellow card for diving instead. After 48 played minutes Atletico Juventud FC got a freekick which was hit by Tiburcio Mateo. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciro Goito to make the kick off. The supporters of Los pochoclitos booed when Atletico Juventud FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Celino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Los pochoclitos's Virgilio Senio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Los pochoclitos from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Honorio Fortun got free with Virgilio Senio in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Los pochoclitos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Matias Natanael in the 60th minute.
