The referee ignored Atlanta FC's protests and gave Ulises Quico a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Atlanta FC getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Ulises Quico hit a great ball. Emiliano Roldan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Frisco in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlanta FC's goalkeeper Emiliano Roldan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hernani Toscano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Cayetano Eneto made a huge save. Cayetano Eneto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregorio Rey in the 25th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Donato Lobo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cayetano Eneto. That made the score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. Ulises Quico hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute Fabio Frisco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emiliano Roldan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregorio Rey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the game, Atlanta FC's Hernani Toscano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cayetano Eneto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio Frisco in the 42nd minute of play forced Atlanta FC's goalkeeper Emiliano Roldan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emiliano Roldan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Frisco in the 45th minute of play. If Fabio Frisco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernani Toscano made a kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Lorenzo Mano in the 53rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by River Plate's Jairo Lizar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabio Frisco got free with Emiliano Roldan in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Ulises Quico was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 55 minutes had been played. Ulises Quico kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. With a little luck, Atlanta FC's Emiliano Roldan got control of the ball when Fabio Frisco tried to sneak it across the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Atlanta FC's goalkeeper Emiliano Roldan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fabio Frisco. Wolfgang-Bernd Dremark sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River Plate's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Atlanta FC had won, even though River Plate had held more of the ball.
