Vélez Sarsfield's Humberto Xabat got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. But to his dismay, Cornelio Abecia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Cornelio Abecia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 95th match minute, Vélez Sarsfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilio Edur to maneuver through the defense.
