INDEPENDIENTE's Vladimiro Vigil got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Elvio Unax could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Ulises Dacio made a huge save. Ulises Dacio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Godofredo Brun's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Elvio Unax struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Ulises Dacio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Muñoz FC. If Emanuel Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emanuel Ortiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Tiburcio Eron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 21 played minutes INDEPENDIENTE got a freekick which was hit by Anibal Pero. Emanuel Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vladimiro Vigil in the 27th minute of play forced Muñoz FC's goalkeeper Tiburcio Eron to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiburcio Eron made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Ortiz in the 30th minute of play. After 32 minutes Muñoz FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Emiliano Bero who took care of the corner kick. Emiliano Bero made a great header on INDEPENDIENTE's corner, it was just that Muñoz FC's Tiburcio Eron managed to reach the ball for a save. Emanuel Ortiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiburcio Eron having to interfere. Tiburcio Eron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Ortiz in the 36th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Emanuel Ortiz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Tiburcio Eron was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tiburcio Eron took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiro Vigil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Muñoz FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. INDEPENDIENTE were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Emanuel Ortiz to make the kick off. After 54 played minutes INDEPENDIENTE got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Xacintu. After having played for 61 minutes, Emanuel Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. INDEPENDIENTE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Ortiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emanuel Ortiz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 66thth minute tested the skills of Tiburcio Eron when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Jonatan Berasko fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored INDEPENDIENTE's protests and gave Jonatan Berasko a yellow card for diving instead. After 69 played minutes INDEPENDIENTE got a freekick which was hit by Jonatan Berasko. In the 74th match minute, Muñoz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celestino Alfonso to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Muñoz FC booed when INDEPENDIENTE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emanuel Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vladimiro Vigil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 96 minutes, Benedicto Librado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Muñoz FC and the INDEPENDIENTE players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Muñoz FC! The Muñoz FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing INDEPENDIENTE to win.
