With 14 minutes on the clock, Chico Piola commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Nicanor Micael could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Bogumil Kempka made a huge save. Bogumil Kempka was a little too slow when Eliseo Sol got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-0. In the 29th minute, Bernabe Orzaize hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bogumil Kempka made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicanor Micael in the 30th minute. Teodoro Bento struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Ivan Cedro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galatasaray. The supporters of El fortinero booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franco Frias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 79 minutes, Teodoro Bento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galatasaray and the El fortinero players grew even worse after the yellow card.
