Hersir Hrútsson came out of the goal and Úlfgeir Jónþórsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Varðan getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Úlfgeir Jónþórsson hit a great ball. Hjálmar Ernirsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Úlfgeir Jónþórsson in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hersir Hrútsson saved Gimli Flúðum from getting behind. In the 19th minute, Óðinn Óskarsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mekkinó Þráinson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kjallakur Björgvinsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the match, Hildibergur Númason notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gimli Flúðum's Hersir Hrútsson. Hersir Hrútsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Hildibergur Númason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kjallakur Björgvinsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Mekkinó Þráinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Varðan's Úlfgeir Jónþórsson in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gimli Flúðum's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Varðan's Hildibergur Númason got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Númi Sturluson struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Mekkinó Þráinson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimli Flúðum. Hersir Hrútsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Úlfgeir Jónþórsson in the 37th minute of the match. In the 41st minute of the match Bessi Theódórsson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hersir Hrútsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Hildibergur Númason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kjallakur Björgvinsson to make the kick off. Jói Hallmundsson struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Mekkinó Þráinson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gimli Flúðum. 57 minutes into the match, Gimli Flúðum's goalkeeper Hersir Hrútsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Úlfgeir Jónþórsson. In the 59th minute, Varðan's Hildibergur Númason ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hersir Hrútsson. Hersir Hrútsson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Hersir Hrútsson made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Úlfgeir Jónþórsson sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Geirröður Gestsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Despite close surveillance by the defense, Hildibergur Númason managed to send off a shot that put the ball into the goal to the left of a disappointed goalkeeper. 0-3 in the 66th minute. Hersir Hrútsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hildibergur Númason in the 69th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Úlfgeir Jónþórsson got free with Hersir Hrútsson in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hersir Hrútsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hildibergur Númason in the 71st minute. Hersir Hrútsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hildibergur Númason in the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the game, Úlfgeir Jónþórsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Hersir Hrútsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benedikt Hlöðversson hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. A hard shot 79 in the game by Úlfgeir Jónþórsson from a close distance when the talented Hersir Hrútsson managed to make a qualified save. Gimli Flúðum's players were relieved. Hersir Hrútsson made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Úlfgeir Jónþórsson sent off a good shot on target. In the 92nd minute, Hildibergur Númason got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gimli Flúðum's Hersir Hrútsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Gimli Flúðum from getting a goal against them. Varðan's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
