Tam Taggart charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tam Taggart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lee Buntain hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. 7 minutes into the match, Tranent FC's Richard Pratt broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 21 minutes into the game, Robert McGugan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Logan McQuire. Robert McGugan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Robert McChruiter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Ben McVurich tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Lee Buntain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Innes McCloy who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Logan McQuire when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Innes McCloy's late challenge caught a Tranent FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Innes McCloy helped the player get up and apologised. In the 34th match minute, Paisley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Innes McCloy to maneuver through the defense. 42 minutes into the match, Paisley's goal looked a bit too open when Robert McChruiter came free, but Ben McVurich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Tranent FC's goalkeeper Logan McQuire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Innes McCloy. Tranent FC's Logan McQuire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert McGugan in the 45th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robert McGugan to strike the kick off in the second half. When Innes McCloy came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Paisley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Innes McCloy couldn't finish the play. Brian Beattie took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ben McVurich. Ben McVurich dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Callum Caddell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tranent FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Callum Caddell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ben McVurich breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Robert McChruiter came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Tranent FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert McChruiter couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Innes McCloy in the 69th minute of play forced Tranent FC's goalkeeper Logan McQuire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 70 minutes, Robert McChruiter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tranent FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert McChruiter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 71 minutes, Lee Buntain mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paisley and the Tranent FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st match minute, Paisley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lee Buntain to maneuver through the defense. Robert McChruiter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ben McVurich having to interfere. Callum Caddell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Innes McCloy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ben McVurich took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Callum Caddell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Callum Caddell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Callum Caddell struck a weak shot in the 100th minute. Ben McVurich didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tranent FC. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Paisley were victorious despite being under pressure from Tranent FC for much of the match.
