After a rather tough play, Lanark AFC's Tim Garvie got a free kick in the 6th minute. Hamilton's Lewis McCreath got a good chance for a goal in the 10th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hamilton's Arthur McLulich suffered a sprained foot after 11 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 12 minutes, Jamie McDermid mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lanark AFC and the Hamilton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jamie McDermid kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute of the match Angus Cooper sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arthur McAdie skillfully saved the ball. Robbie McTary sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lewis McCreath fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur McAdie having to interfere. Evan Sharp struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Jordan Cookson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lanark AFC. Alexander Ross sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jordan Cookson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evan Sharp in the 30th minute of play. Robbie McTary received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Arthur McAdie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Evan Sharp came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Lanark AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evan Sharp couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Evan Sharp to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Lewis McCreath ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arthur McAdie was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jamie McDermid hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 60th minute, Lewis McCreath got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Hamilton getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Conor McMorran hit a great ball. The supporters of Lanark AFC booed when Hamilton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angus Cooper didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lanark AFC were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Hamilton's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tim Garvie took the corner. After taking down the ball on Lanark AFC's corner Tim Garvie fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jordan Cookson quite easily take care of the ball. Lewis McCreath hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Lanark AFC's Evan Sharp got a free kick in the 70th minute. Lanark AFC's Alexander Ross got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alexander Ross fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordan Cookson having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evan Sharp during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lanark AFC! The referee gave Hamilton a penalty, 87 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Angus Cooper, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lanark AFC's Arthur McAdie. 0-2. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of Hamilton:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lanark AFC:s goal. The Lanark AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Hamilton's performance. The match ended with a win for Hamilton.
