Ter Gow showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aiden Munn, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Martin Stalker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ter Gow having to interfere. Gordon McDuff ran back to his position shaking his head. 48 minutes into the match, Denny's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Carmichael came free, but Kieran McCaul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martin Stalker to make the kick off. Gordon McDuff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Ter Gow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Denny's Kieran McCaul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Carmichael in the 56th minute of play. In the 64th match minute, Alexandria FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nigel Abbott to maneuver through the defense. After 87 minutes of play, Alexandria FC's Simon Carmichael made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. After 94 played minutes Alexandria FC got a freekick which was hit by Davie Doig. 96 minutes into the match, Alexandria FC's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Stalker came free, but Ter Gow reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Alexandria FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Denny had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
