But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Stalker couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Denny booed when Kirriemuir was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce McCrimmor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kirriemuir's Lucas Grieve got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Nicky McAulay's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kieran McCaul was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Lucas Grieve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Kieran McCaul tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 44 minutes into the match, Kirriemuir's goalkeeper Darius Allan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gordon McDuff. In the 45th minute Martin Stalker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Allan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucas Grieve stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kieran McCaul made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Grieve in the 51st minute of play. When Ron Lewis came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Denny fans jumped to their feet. In the 55thth minute of the game Martin Stalker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kirriemuir's Darius Allan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Kirriemuir's Gregor Cookson got a free kick in the 55th minute. Darius Allan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gordon McDuff went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gordon McDuff in the 63rd minute of play forced Kirriemuir's goalkeeper Darius Allan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kirriemuir's Darius Allan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Stalker in the 67th minute of play. Lucas Grieve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kieran McCaul didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Kirriemuir's Nicky McAulay shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-1 in the ordered_time% minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Gordon McDuff managed to get in a good position for a shot. Denny's supporters rose to their feet, but Gordon McDuff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darius Allan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Darius Allan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gordon McDuff in the 90th minute of the match. Darius Allan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gordon McDuff, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
