Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arthur Carstarphen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the match, Lybster's goal looked a bit too open when Graeme Barton came free, but Gary McLeverty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Graeme Barton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th match minute, Heriot United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conor Kinnieson to maneuver through the defense. Logan McLaine's late challenge caught a Lybster's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Logan McLaine helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Heriot United getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Logan McLaine hit a great ball. Lybster's Frankie Gunn shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 16th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Kenneth McCartney but with some difficulty. After 20 played minutes Lybster got a freekick which was hit by Dean McIan. Graeme Barton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Gary McLeverty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graeme Barton in the 25th minute of play forced Lybster's goalkeeper Gary McLeverty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 25 minutes, Keith Simon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lybster and the Heriot United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute Nicholas Cluny shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gary McLeverty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kenneth McCartney made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arthur Carstarphen in the 31st minute of play. Graeme Barton might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gary McLeverty. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Graeme Barton to strike the kick off in the second half. The Lybster fans' excitement grew in the 57th match minute when Lybster's Rory McRuer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 60thth minute of the game Arthur Carstarphen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Heriot United's Kenneth McCartney was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 62nd minute, Nicholas Cluny got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 63rd match minute, Lybster was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean McIan to maneuver through the defense. Kenneth McCartney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rory McRuer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Arthur Carstarphen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lybster's supporters rose to their feet, but Arthur Carstarphen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenneth McCartney breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kenneth McCartney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rory McRuer, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute.
