Terry Cobb might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jack McShimes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Terry Cobb ran back to his position shaking his head. Stornoway FC's Jack McShimes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lee McIlleriach in the 6th minute of play. Norman Davies sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the match, Stornoway FC's Norman Davies sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wally Fairbairn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Stornoway FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Rick Frissell hit a great ball. Terry Cobb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Stornoway FC's John Hughson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wally Fairbairn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Lossiemouth City booed when Stornoway FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rick Frissell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jack McShimes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lee McIlleriach, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Stornoway FC's Jack McShimes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lee McIlleriach in the 34th minute of play. Jack McShimes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Terry Cobb, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th match minute, Lossiemouth City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lee McIlleriach to maneuver through the defense. Wally Fairbairn was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Les McHardy. If Lee McIlleriach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lee McIlleriach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 58 played minutes Lossiemouth City got a freekick which was hit by Terry Cobb. 64 minutes into the match, Lossiemouth City's goal looked a bit too open when Norman Davies came free, but Wally Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Lossiemouth City's zone, Norman Davies stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wally Fairbairn came out of the goal and Norman Davies tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wally Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norman Davies, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stornoway FC's Jack McShimes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Stornoway FC from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stewart McEachran in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jack McShimes saved Stornoway FC from getting behind. 81 minutes into the match, Lossiemouth City's goal looked a bit too open when Norman Davies came free, but Wally Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wally Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Hughson, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Stornoway FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Lossiemouth City for a fine match.
