Dalkeith FC's Duncan McKenzie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinny Frissell in the 5th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Colin McPhedran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Banff's goalkeeper Marc Wheelan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Eric Berry managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dalkeith FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eric Berry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marc Wheelan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 33rd match minute, Dalkeith FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny Harper to maneuver through the defense. Colin McPhedran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan McKenzie having to interfere. Colin McPhedran kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Eric Berry managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dalkeith FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eric Berry was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marc Wheelan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Banff booed when Dalkeith FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gus McFadzean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Euan Boyd took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 52nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Duncan McKenzie. Dalkeith FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Marc Wheelan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ben Haggart, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. If Colin McPhedran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the game, Eric Berry cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Marc Wheelan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ben Haggart received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Marc Wheelan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ben Haggart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Dalkeith FC's Vinny Fisher got a free kick in the 90th minute. Eric Berry recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Dalkeith FC's Ben Haggart sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marc Wheelan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Dalkeith FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
