Duncan Findlater showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Greg McVean in the 12th minute of the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Greg McVean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wolves FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Greg McVean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adrian Forsyth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Greg McVean managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wolves FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Greg McVean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duncan Findlater breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Duncan Findlater showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greg McVean, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Tim McKeochan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute Greg McVean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duncan Findlater saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duncan Findlater took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruce Ayson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the game, Greg McVean cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Duncan Findlater was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Greg McVean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tim McKeochan struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Duncan Findlater didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wolves FC. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
Greg McVeans short, quick shot in the 51stth minute got Duncan Findlater to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Gordon United's zone, Greg McVean stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duncan Findlater came out of the goal and Greg McVean tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Greg McVean fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Findlater having to interfere. If Bruce Ayson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Greg McVean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Greg McVean's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Duncan Findlater firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Wolves FC booed when Gordon United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tom McCamie didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Gordon United's Terence Ferguson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Derek Beresford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Bruce Ayson came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Wolves FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruce Ayson couldn't finish the play. 70 minutes into the match, Gordon United's goal looked a bit too open when Bruce Ayson came free, but Duncan Findlater reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Wolves FC's Greg McVean dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. After a rather tough play, Gordon United's Finlay Boyle got a free kick in the 78th minute. With a little luck, Gordon United's Duncan Findlater got control of the ball when Greg McVean tried to sneak it across the goal line. Greg McVean sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Greg McVean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duncan Findlater made an important save on a dangerous shot by Greg McVean in the 91st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruce Ayson got free with Duncan Findlater in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded Wolves FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Gordon United.
